The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) has postponed the practical examinations for the students of Telangana Intermediate Class 12 Board Examination 2021. The decision has been taken in view of increasing Covid-19 cases and implementation of lockdowns in the State.
The practical examinations for intermediate second-year general courses and first and second-year vocational courses were scheduled to begin on 29 May 2021 till 07 June 2021. A review meeting in this regard will be held in the first week of June and the fresh dates will be announced 15 days before the practical examinations.
Earlier, on 21 May 2021, the results for Telangana State Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or Class 10 Board examination were announced. The students were assessed on the basis of an internal assessment, this year. The Class 10 Board exam was scheduled to be conducted from May 17 to May 26, 2021, however, the state government had to cancel the board exams, considering the second wave of COVID-19.
According to some media reports, former TSBIE Secretary Omar Jaleel had said that the state board would proceed with the Class 12 Intermediate Board Examinations 2021 without making any changes to the existing exam pattern.
During a national-level consultation meeting convened by the Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Jaleel stated, “Almost all the states wanted to go ahead with the exams, but with precautionary measures with vaccination of students and staffs. In Telangana, we will move forward without any changes in the existing pattern.” He further said that the exam timings would be reduced to 90 minutes and the possibility of holding the exam from mid-July to September was discussed.
Meanwhile, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has also postponed the CBSE Class 12 Board Examination 2021, and the decision on the same is expected to be announced by June 1, 2021.
