The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has revised the schedule for the tabulation of marks. The schools can now submit the internal marks by 30 June 2021. Subsequently, the class 10 board result which was likely to be released by June 20, 2021, stands postponed. The decision to extend the deadline for marks submission has been made in view of the ongoing pandemic.
According to the circular issued, the CBSE portal will be available for uploading of marks till 20 May 2021 and submission of marks, internal assessment marks till 30 June 2021. “Keeping in view the situation of pandemic, lockdown in States and safety of teachers and other staff members of the affiliated schools, CBSE has decided to extend dates,” stated the official notification.
The CBSE took this decision considering the worsening Covid-19 situation across the country. “CBSE accords highest priority to safety and health of the teachers,” the official statement read.
Earlier, the internal assessment marks were scheduled to be uploaded by 11 June 2021. This year, the CBSE will not hold any exam for students of Class 10. The result will be declared on the basis of special criteria, 20 marks for internal assessment, and 80 marks will be on the basis of students’ performance in various tests throughout the year. However, the Delhi government had written to the board asking for relaxation in the timeline.
The result is now expected to be announced by July first week, however, the committee can decide on the result dates later. The board is yet to release the official notice.
