E-commerce business Amazon is working alongside its marketplace sellers to aid them in procuring around 9,000 oxygen concentrators for its India customers and 1,000 oxygen concentrators have arrived for sale.
“To address the growing customer demand and shortage of critical medical equipment, Amazon India is working with sellers on its marketplace to help them bring in about 9,000 oxygen concentrators for customers in India,” the business said in a statement, ET Bureau reported.
Now, Amazon sellers can offer products including oxygen concentrators, oxymetres, thermometers, gloves, masks, and disinfectants and sanitisers among others. The remaining shipment of oxygen concentrators are expected to arrive in India in late May.
“In the last few weeks, we have seen up to a 70x increase in search volume for oxygen concentrators and we are collaborating with our sellers to ramp up inventory of critical medical equipment including oxygen concentrators for our customers,” said Amazon India’s vice president Manish Tiwary, the Press Trust of India reported. “Our focus is to enable an easy and convenient access to genuine, high quality products for our customers in their time of need.”
To procure the oxygen concentrators, Amazon has linked India-based sellers with foreign supplier businesses and has taken steps to simplify the supply chain. Amazon had previously announced that it was importing 100 ventilator units to India among other medical equipment to donate to hospitals in the country.
