If the COVID-19 pandemic impacted the lives and livelihoods of millions across the world, the second wave only worsened it by not allowing things to recuperate adding to the woes and sufferings of people, and one of the worst-hit by the pandemic are the women, especially those who lost their spouses to the COVID pandemic leaving them to fend for themselves.
Given this, industry leaders such as Yudhvir Mor Amid, Karan Parvesh Singh and Netri Bhatt cobbled up “COVID Widows” – an initiative aimed at empowering women who have lost their partners due to the COVID pandemic rekindling hope amid gloom and despair.
The COVID Widows initiative also involves the participation of multiple IT/ITES and Product companies helping families that have lost earning male members by enabling women support themselves, and their young children through the attainment of financial independence and discipline by helping them find appropriate jobs and career opportunities through career counselling, interview preparation and support.
The noble initiative for COVID widows connects the bereaved women with the employers that they wish to work with based on their skill sets thus help them rebuild their careers and families.
With the sole aim and focus on empowering women who lost their partners to the COVID pandemic, who may/may not have been principal/sole breadwinners of the family, COVID Widows serves as a platform to help these bereaved women to find independence and peace at the earliest.
