Can lemon and hot water kill Coronavirus?

While medical experts are busy fighting the novel COVID19 virus in hospitals, we are busy handling the fake cures and remedy videos doing rounds on social media. While most of these are fake and baseless, there are people who end up following these measures and further complicate their health. It is highly recommended that one should not follow any of these remedies as they are likely to impact your health.

Recently, PIB cleared the myth that claimed that pouring two drops of lemon juice in the nose could completely kill COVID19 virus in the body.

In the same league, another message doing rounds on social media titled ‘Cure for Coronavirus’ from Israel says that hot water, lemon slices, and soda bicarbonate together when consumed as ‘hot tea’ every afternoon could “immediately kills #COVID19 & completely eliminate it from the body”. However, PIB fact-checked this and revealed that this claim is also fake.

Another fake forward that was busted by PIB official fact check Twitter page was that the inhalation of steam from hot water can kill Coronavirus. PIB clearly stated that there is no study that proves these myths to be true.

According to experts, it is suggested to stay away from such fake claims and one should only follow the guidelines issued by the government and medical experts or WHO. Apart from this regular use of sanitizer, wear double mask, and social distancing are the ways to keep the virus away.
