Known for his traditional men’s Bandhgalas, designer Raghavendra Rathore has increasingly turned his focus towards womenswear and has just launched a new summer line for women.
Rathore’s new collection is inspired by the classic look of the Bandhgala, reinterpreted for women and with more casual options to suit the ‘new normal’. Floaty textiles and monochrome prints make for comfortable silhouettes with day-to-night options aplenty.
Raghavendra Rathore Jodhpur does have a small womenswear segment, specialising in gender-neutral tuxedos and occasion wear. With its new summer offering, the brand has branched into more casual ready-to-wear designed for a wide array of occasions.
“There has not been a single person, system or brand that has not been affected by the pandemic,” Rathore told Elle India at the current situation.
“Readapting design, clothes and services offered to the customers is something we have had to shift gears around. Since the experience people are looking for has changed, clothes need to be an accent to the personality and last for a lifetime. Being primarily bespoke in our offering, home-shopping and zoom consultations have taken precedence as our goal remains to keep the customer’s comfort and safety at the centre of everything.”
Rathore’s eponymous brand Raghavendra Rathore Jodhpur is also currently focusing on charitable initiatives through its Raghavendra Rathore Foundation. The organisation is pursuing partnerships to aid its work in giving back to society, according to Rathore.
