Kerala Exam Postponed: Kerala Postpones University Exams Amid Spike In Covid-19 Cases

The universities in Kerala have postponed all the examinations which were scheduled from 19 April 2021 onwards in the wake of a surge in the Covid-19 cases in the state. Following a communique from the Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, all the universities have been directed to postpone the offline exams.

Kerala Government Postpones All University Exams

The Universities such as Kerala University, APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kochi, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Calicut University, Malayalam University, Kerala University of Health Sciences, and Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University have announced the postponement of various scheduled examinations.

“The Governor has directed the Vice-Chancellors of all Universities to postpone all the offline examinations owing to the safety of the students and teachers. The fresh dates will be issued on the basis of prevailing conditions,” stated the Kerala Governor’s Office.

Earlier, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor had also written to the Governor to postpone the exams as he received many representations from students and teachers from Kerala.

“With Kerala reporting 13,000 + new Covid cases, it is irresponsible that the 6th Semester B.A/B.Sc exams of Kerala University are still scheduled from 19th April. Could the University & Govt please postpone or cancel these exams?” Tharoor tweeted.
